Type of active substance: Flavonoids, alkaloids and saponins are the main phytochemicals that are reported from Christ’s thorn. Christ’s thorn leaves contain various beneficial ingredients, triterpenoidal saponin glycosides, betulic acid, ceanothic acid, christinin-A, B, C and D. Geranyl acetone, methyl hexadecanoate, methyl octadecanoate, farnesyl acetone C, hexadecanol and ethyl octadecanoate are characterized as the major components of the leave’s volatile oil.
